One additional COVID-19 related death was recorded on Sunday, the deceased an 87-year-old female from Westmoreland whose death was previously under investigation.
The latest fatality brings the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 257.
In the meantime, the island recorded 54 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases on record for the island to 10,763. Recoveries also increased by 153 on the day, bringing total recoveries to 6,219.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 32 are females and 22 are males, with ages ranging from 12Â to 83Â years. The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (14), St Catherine (11), Westmoreland (nine), Trelawny (six), St James (four), Hanover (three), Manchester (two), St Elizabeth (two), Portland (one), St Mary (one) and St Thomas (one).
There are 11Â moderately ill patients and nine critically ill patients among the 4,139 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
