The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica has surpassed 11,000.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the island recorded 76 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases on record for the country to 11,063.Β
There was also one additional death from COVID-19. The deceased is a 60-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew address.
The latest fatality brings the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 261.
There were 136 recoveries recorded on the day, bringing total recoveries to 6,866.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 42 are males and 33 are females, with ages ranging from 28 days to 85 years. The gender of one of the new cases is awaiting confirmation.
The cases were recorded in Westmoreland (22), St Catherine (17), St Ann (eight), St James (seven), Kingston and St Andrew (six), Clarendon (six), Trelawny (five), St Elizabeth (two), Hanover (one), St Mary (one), and St Thomas (one).Β
There are three moderately ill patients and seven critically ill patients among the 3,785 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
